What are we learning this week?
READING:
**Skill sheets can be found above. It contains all things you need to STUDY for Thursday (Spelling/Grammar) & Friday (Oral Vocab/Reading Comprehension) tests. Every Monday, we will send home this skill sheet along with fluency practice sheets, spelling activity, & a grammar worksheet! PLEASE USE THESE, THEY ARE GREAT RESOURCES AND EXTRA PRACTICE!!! (Students that turn it in will get a PAWS ticket)
MATH:
"Practice and Homework" pages will be sent home at the beginning of every chapter. They are to be USED AS NEEDED FOR YOUR CHILD!!! (Students that turn it in will get a PAWS ticket)
TESTS:
THURSDAY:
1) Spelling test (write all 12 words & dictation sentence... We want the students to understand the
letter/sound patterns in words, not just memorize a list of words.)
2) Grammar test (about 8-10 questions about skill... this week is "sentences: word order")
FRIDAY:
1) Oral Vocabulary test (match definitions to words & fill-in-the-blank sentences... We want the
students to understand the meaning of the words and how to use them in context, not memorize.)
2) Reading Comprehension test (Independently read a story they've never seen before, but includes
sounds they can recognize & answer 5 questions about the story using "text evidence"... We want the students to go back in the story to find and justify their answers.)
3) Fluency quiz (read list of words and/or story with focus sound of the week)
